About MedePaints
Madeline is a painter based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
She has drawn and painted since she was a child. Her father, a jack of all trades, drew and painted too, and he was the one who always brought her art supplies. Painting was something they shared.
After losing her sister and her father, Madeline returned to painting as a way of coping with grief. It became a steady place to rest in a fast-paced world, and it has stayed that way ever since.
She works in watercolour, acrylic, and oil. Every painting is made by hand, one at a time.

Tide & Sand, 2026. Acrylic on canvas.
Artistic approach
Madeline paints to feel something, and to give that feeling back to the viewer. Her subjects range from abstract colour and movement to florals and fruit, but each piece starts from the same question: how can colour bring calm, warmth, or life into a space?
She chooses her medium to suit the work. Watercolour brings softness, acrylic brings boldness and texture, and oil brings depth.
Original works
Every original is one of one. It is signed on the front and back, comes ready to hang, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Once an original is sold it stays in the gallery, marked with a red dot, as part of the record of the work.
Prints
Prints are high-resolution reproductions of original MedePaints paintings, printed with archival pigment inks on 150 GSM matte fine art paper. Colours are checked against the original painting before an edition is released.
On collecting
You do not need to be an expert to collect art. You need a work that you want to see every day. Whether it is a first print for a new home or a large original for a long wall, every piece is packed with the same care and followed by the same attention.
